FASHION + MUSIC = Naked Without Us
Naked Without US kicked off the first of four shows on Wednesday, May 11th at The Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville . The newly renovated Reverb Room upstairs was hopping as patrons checked out the boutiques and vendors while waiting for the bands to start.
It was a super hot evening, but no worries, there were plenty of drink specials from Firefly Vodka to cool us off.
Eco-friendly fashions were well represented with Revived Vinyl being on of my favorites. As the name suggests, Revived Vinyl finds new uses for old vinyl records such as wearable art. Another Eco-fashion item was the T-shirt necklaces I have been seeing around town by Katie Lynne Vance You can’t miss these chunky, funky, necklaces. They are definitely different. And what a great way to make something old NEW again! Accountant turned jeweler, Jodie Vieira of JoMarie Jewelry had gorgeously chic and elegant handmade jewelry to oooh and aah over! Loved it!
I missed the first band which was The Future and I head they were great! Anyway, I got there just in time to see the very stylish Vinyl Pinups.
Singer, Khara Lord-Aerts and Guitarist, Brennan Aerts were fun to watch and listen to as models walked the mini-runway in Mohawk and Love duds.
I especially loved the all black T-shirt and shorts paired with thigh high tube socks…so cute! I love that this line is made by hairdressers and a percentage of their proceeds go to the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation.
Next up was the very upbeat and Jason Mrazish band HeyHiHello. Models strutted across the stage and down the runway wearing cool dresses by Jenny Vicious of Vicious Threads.
Jenny’s collection was very rock-n-roll inspired vintage re-imagined. She uses very unique fabrics and prints like brocade and animal print that I am guessing she reconstructs and gives her own twist. I loved the looks and the models really seemed to light up in her designs.
The next band and last one I saw was Leslie and let me tell you, these guys totally rocked!
Lovers-&-Fighters Clothing Co was the clothing line paired with them which I thought was appropriate since they, well, ROCK! VERY cool T-shirts, especially the Peaceful Guns design!
I left shortly after Leslie, so I missed Yumi and The System if they played. I really wanted to see her too!
I had a great time at the show! Thanks Naked Without Us! You are doing great things! For more information on NWU, check out their website www.nwufestival.wordpress.com.
