In conjunction with Nashville Fashion Week, Manuel (Manny) Cuevas, Jr. hosted an in-store wine social event on Wednesday, March 31, 2011. The event was held at Manny’s studio/workspace located at 1001 Dickerson Pike from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
When I arrived, the place was buzzing with makeup artists as well as hair and wardrobe stylists putting the final touches on the models.
The makeup artist for the event was Drea Kaboom and the hairstylist was KK of Art Works www.worksofartsalonandspa.com. Models and wardrobe stylists (Team Style) were provided by Doll House Agency. Stylists included: Tarryn Grant, Bridget Talley, Marquis G., Liberty Monroe, and Phillip Johnson Agency.
Manny was hard at work sewing another creation for Nashville’s Paul McDonald, one of the finalists on American Idol.
Paul is the singer and front-man for the band The Grand Magnolias www.thegrandmagnolias.com. He made a huge splash on the show early on when he wore a fabulous white rhinestone embroidered suit designed by Manny. The suit was so hot, Manny was asked to do a second one. This time in black!
At 4:00, people started trickling in and were warmly greeted by their gracious host. Manny, true to form, did a great job making everyone feel welcome. Complimentary wine and champagne were served, which was a very nice touch!
The models were strategically placed throughout the studio wearing different ensembles from Manny’s Wear It Out collection. Each model was wearing a different “look” styled by one of the six stylists mentioned above. Team Style did a great job putting the outfits together and all the models looked stunning!
Before I knew it, Manny’s studio was full of people!
Among those in attendance were Craig Wayne Boyd, musician, Michael Hap Hapner, artist, Morelia Cuevas, Manny’s sister, and the legendary designer (Manny’s father), “Manuel” Cuevas. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves while checking out all Manny’s fabulous creations.
After about an hour of fun and conversation, Manny treated the crowd to an impromptu desgin workshop. He explained the process of perforating the pattern and transferring the design onto the fabric. It was so exciting to see such a talented designer at work! You can see the passion Manny has for his work and I think everyone there was intrigued and impressed.
After the demonstration, everyone continued to mingle and shop. A good time was had by all. Wine Wednesday was definitely a smash hit! Manny was a fabulous host and Doll House Agency and Team Style did a fabulous job organizing and orchestrating the event! Phillip, you and your crew totally rocked it!
I am so happy to have been a part of this event and I think everyone that attended would agree that Manny is a Super-Star and he’s on the rise! Not only that, he is a wonderful person. Now, I’d say that’s a combination for success!
Congratulations on a super event Manny! Best of luck with everything that is coming your way!
